The Turkish State Meteorological Service has released its latest weather report, forecasting rainfall across the western, Central Anatolian, and central Black Sea regions of Turkey. Notably, heavy rainfall is anticipated around Antalya and the coastal areas of Muğla. The Meteorological Service has issued warnings for potential flash floods, inundations, lightning, strong winds, and even tornadoes.
Istanbul Braces for Continued Downpours
Istanbul experienced significant rainfall at the start of the week, leading to an 81% increase in traffic density. Despite the heavy precipitation, temperatures in the city are expected to remain around seasonal norms. According to the Meteorological Service’s five-day forecast, the megacity will see continued heavy rains on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
Detailed Rainfall Forecast for Various Regions
The updated report from the Meteorological Service predicts intermittent rainfall today across the Southern and Inner Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Western and Central Black Sea regions, as well as Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bilecik’s coastal areas, and the northern parts of Balıkesir. The precipitation is generally expected to be rain and showers, with occasional thunderstorms along the Western Mediterranean and Southern Aegean coasts. Higher elevations in the inner parts of the Western and Central Black Sea regions, along with the northern and eastern high-altitude areas of Central Anatolia, may experience sleet and snow.
The heaviest rainfall is expected in and around Antalya, as well as the coastal sections of Muğla. Furthermore, fog and localized mist, accompanied by ice and frost, are anticipated in the northern, central, and eastern parts of the country during the morning and night hours.
Bolu Mountain Affected by Heavy Showers and Fog
On the Düzce section of the Anatolian Motorway, dense fog significantly reduced visibility. Drivers were urged to exercise caution in areas such as the Düzce, Beyköy, Sinirci, and Gölyaka toll booths. Fog was also observed intermittently on the Northern Ring Road and the Permanent Residences Connection Road. Additionally, heavy showers affected the D-100 highway’s Bolu section, specifically the Yumrukaya and Abant Junctions, as well as the Seymenler and Bakacak areas of the Bolu Mountain pass.

According to forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, air temperatures across the country are expected to remain around seasonal averages. Winds are generally predicted to be light, occasionally moderate, blowing from the south.
