Istanbul, December 22 – The Holy Three Months, a significant period in the Islamic calendar, were welcomed with a special ‘Prayer Gathering’ event at the historic Eyüpsultan Mosque. The event, held today, brought together representatives from over 10 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and the Eyüpsultan Muftiate, emphasizing unity and spiritual reflection.
A Collaborative Spiritual Initiative
The ‘Prayer Gathering’ was a joint effort to embrace the spiritual atmosphere of the Holy Three Months. Participating NGOs included Eyüpsultan Önder (Esönder), Ensar, Hayrat Gençlik, Diyanet Vakfı, İlim Yayma, İHH, Tügva, Yeşilay, Cihannuma, Kızılay, and Temsilder, all with their Eyüpsultan branches actively involved. This collaboration underscored the community’s commitment to spiritual observance and collective prayer.
Morning Prayers and Dhikr
The event commenced with the performance of the morning prayer (Sabah Namazı) at the Eyüpsultan Mosque. Following the prayers, participants engaged in dhikr (remembrance of God), creating a serene and devout atmosphere within the mosque. The collective worship aimed to mark the beginning of this auspicious period with deep spiritual devotion.
Prayers for the Oppressed
A central part of the gathering was a heartfelt prayer led by the Eyüpsultan Mufti. During this prayer, special supplications were made for brothers and sisters in Gaza, East Turkistan, and all other oppressed regions worldwide. This act of collective prayer highlighted the community’s solidarity with those facing hardship and injustice, reflecting a core tenet of Islamic compassion.
Children Not Forgotten
In a gesture of warmth and community spirit, children who attended the event were not forgotten. Surprise gifts were distributed to them after the gathering, bringing smiles to their faces and engaging the younger generation in the spiritual atmosphere of the Holy Three Months. This initiative aimed to instill a sense of belonging and joy among the children.
Networking Among NGOs
The ‘Prayer Gathering’ also provided a valuable opportunity for members of the participating NGOs to interact and converse. This informal networking allowed various civil society organizations to strengthen their bonds, share insights, and potentially foster future collaborations for community welfare and spiritual initiatives.
The Holy Three Months are set to begin tomorrow, with the Diyanet Calendar 2025 outlining the fasting schedule and other observances during this sacred period. The event at Eyüpsultan Mosque served as a poignant and unifying start to these months of heightened devotion and spiritual reflection for the community in Istanbul.
