ISTANBUL (AA) – Seven suspects have been remanded in custody in connection with the murder of jeweler Ünsal Bahçeci, who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Bakırköy. The incident, which took place on December 17, saw 35-year-old Ünsal Bahçeci, a jeweler from Kapalıçarşı (Grand Bazaar), fatally shot while driving his car by individuals on motorcycles.

After their processing at the police department, the 12 suspects were transferred to the Bakırköy Courthouse. Ten of the suspects were referred to the Bakırköy Penal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest, while two were referred with a request for judicial control measures. The judgeship subsequently ordered the arrest of seven suspects, including the minor, and imposed judicial control measures on the remaining five.

As part of the ongoing investigation, searches conducted at the suspects’ addresses led to the seizure of significant evidence. Authorities reportedly confiscated three firearms believed to have been used in the crime, along with one bulletproof vest. These items are expected to play a crucial role in the prosecution’s case.
