Opera Singer Emrah Erdem Gedik Dies After Tragic Balcony Fall in Istanbul
Istanbul, January 22 – Emrah Erdem Gedik, a respected chorus artist with the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (İDOB), tragically passed away yesterday evening after falling from the balcony of his 5th-floor apartment in Istanbul’s Bahçelievler district. Despite all efforts by medical teams, Gedik could not be saved.
The incident occurred in the Merkez neighborhood at approximately 10:38 PM on Wednesday. Gedik, aged 48, fell from the balcony of his residence in a 13-story building into the garden below. Passersby immediately reported the incident to the authorities, prompting the dispatch of police and medical teams to the scene.
Emergency health services swiftly transported the severely injured Gedik to a nearby hospital. However, despite intensive care and all medical interventions, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
