Istanbul Retailers Association Fixes Red Meat and Butter Prices for Ramadan
Istanbul, January 23 – The Istanbul Retailers Association (PERDER) has announced that the prices of red meat and butter will be fixed in member markets across Istanbul until the end of the holy month of Ramadan. This measure, effective today, aims to provide consumers with economic prices and protect them from inflationary pressures during this significant period.
Rahmi Kartal, Chairman of the Board of PERDER, stated that this decision was made within the framework of a protocol signed between Istanbul PERDER and the Meat and Milk Institution. He emphasized that the collaboration ensures that red meat and butter will continue to be supplied at affordable prices to consumers in all districts of Istanbul.
Economic Options for Consumers
Kartal detailed the fixed prices for meat products: “We have fixed the prices of meat and butter. Accordingly, through our member chain markets throughout Istanbul, we will offer economic ground beef at 485 TL per kilogram and economic cubed beef at 510 TL until the end of Ramadan.”
In addition to meat products, the price of butter has also been fixed at 384 TL, making it accessible to consumers until the end of Ramadan. Kartal highlighted that local markets are committed to protecting consumers against price increases through various discount and price-fixing campaigns across numerous product categories.
Ongoing Efforts to Support Households
Kartal underscored the long-standing efforts to provide affordable meat to Istanbul households, noting that the protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Meat and Milk Institution has been in effect since March 2023. “Throughout the year, as local markets, we continue to protect our consumers against price increases with various campaigns. We will not allow profiteering during Ramadan. We want to bring the abundance of Ramadan to dining tables. We wish a blessed Ramadan to our entire country,” he added.
Fixed Prices Until End of Ramadan
The fixed prices, applicable in participating member markets under the Meat and Milk Institution protocol until the end of Ramadan, are as follows:
- Ground Beef: 485 TL
- Cubed Beef: 510 TL
- Butter: 384 TL
This initiative is expected to provide significant relief to consumers during Ramadan, ensuring access to essential food items at stable prices.
