Universal Goodness Event Held in Ankara’s Historic Hamamönü

Ankara, January 25 – The Managers and Bureaucrats Association (İBB DER) hosted its first ‘Traditional Friendship Council Meeting’ of the year in Ankara’s historic Hamamönü, addressing the critical topic of ‘Universal Goodness and the Journey of Universal Goodness’. The event, held on January 25, 2026, brought together community leaders and citizens to discuss the importance of humanitarian efforts in a world grappling with numerous challenges.

According to news from Sonsöz Newspaper by Sümer Taşkıran, İBB DER, known for its impactful activities, vision, and projects, emphasized the need to redefine goodness amidst global wars, injustices, oppressions, and inhumane practices. The association highlighted that goodness is a universal responsibility, especially in an era where such atrocities are becoming increasingly normalized.

Meaningful Gathering in a Historical Setting

The program took place at Kabakçı Mansion, owned by Altındağ Municipality, located in Hamamönü – one of Ankara’s historical and spiritual centers. This significant venue is adjacent to the Taceddin Dervish Lodge, where Mehmet Akif Ersoy penned the Turkish National Anthem, as well as the Taceddin Sultan Tomb and Mosque, and the tomb of Martyr Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and Karacabey Tomb. This historical atmosphere deeply resonated with the program’s content, leaving a lasting impression on the participants.

Yücel Can: Goodness is a Cause Beyond Form

Yücel Can, President of İBB DER, delivered the opening speech, drawing attention to the current global situation. Can underscored that in an age where wars, genocides, inhumane acts, and injustices are almost normalized, goodness stands as a universal responsibility. He stressed that goodness extends beyond mere material aid.

Can elaborated, “Goodness is an understanding that is material, spiritual, sharing, embodying a spirit of togetherness, and based on collective action. Humanity, by its very creation, has assumed the responsibility as the caliph of the universe. Our understanding is a civilization concept that centers on humanity and prioritizes service to humanity.”

Hacı Bayram Şahin, President of the İHH Ankara Branch, was a special guest at the event. He reinforced the message of universal goodness, advocating for a human-centric approach to global issues and emphasizing the importance of a shared conscience in addressing humanitarian crises. The discussions underscored the need for collective action and empathy to counter the prevailing challenges facing humanity.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of commitment among attendees to promote and practice universal goodness in their communities and beyond, inspired by the historical context and the powerful messages delivered by the speakers.
