Ankara, January 25 – Ankara has recorded the highest export growth among Turkey’s top 10 exporting provinces, with a 24.3% increase compared to 2022, reaching a total of $17.5 billion. This significant achievement was announced by Seyit Ardıç, President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO), who emphasized the pivotal role of Ankara’s high-tech production and industrial potential in driving this export surge.

Ankara’s Industrial Transformation Drives Export Success

Seyit Ardıç highlighted that this impressive export performance clearly demonstrates the transformation capacity of Ankara’s industry and its technology-intensive production structure. The ASO recently published its 2025 Export Evaluation Report, which comprehensively analyzes Turkey’s export performance in 2025 compared to the previous year. The report particularly underscores Ankara’s high-tech production capacity within a growth model focused on industry.

Ardıç stressed that exports should be evaluated not merely by numbers but also by production power, technological advancement, and value-added capacity. He noted that despite global uncertainties, Turkey and Ankara maintained their export performance in 2025, strengthening the industry-based growth model. Ardıç stated, “In the coming period, increasing the export of high and medium-high technology products through technology, efficiency, and economies of scale is considered a priority policy objective.”

Strategic Multiplier Effect from Defense Industry

Ankara’s export growth of 24.3%, reaching $17.5 billion, positions it as the city with the highest increase among the top 10 exporting provinces. Ardıç elaborated, “This picture clearly shows that Ankara’s industrial transformation capacity and technology-intensive production structure have become decisive in exports. Today, Ankara strongly distinguishes itself among cities producing high added value in exports with its defense, aviation, machinery, electrical-electronics, and advanced technology-focused industrial infrastructure.”

He added that the dissemination of advanced engineering, software, and production capabilities developed in the defense industry, where Turkey is a leader, to other sectors will create a strategic multiplier effect, enhancing not only Ankara’s but also the country’s high-tech export capacity.

ASO’s Vision: Strengthening Ankara’s High-Tech Export Hub

Ardıç pointed out that ASO’s vision is to strengthen the capital’s position as a center for high-tech, value-added production and exports. Through the ASO Technology Base, which is currently under construction, they aim to bring technology-based entrepreneurship and production together in the same ecosystem, thereby permanently boosting Ankara’s high-tech-oriented exports.

Ardıç commended Ankara’s industrialists for not giving up on production, investment, and exports despite challenging global conditions. He affirmed their unwavering commitment to supporting industrialists and advancing Ankara as the capital of industry and technology.

Report Highlights: Resilience and Sustainable Growth

The report highlights the resilience of Turkey’s industry-focused growth model in 2025, despite global uncertainties, geopolitical risks, and a high-cost environment. Turkey’s goods exports reached $273.4 billion in 2025, with the industrial sector continuing to play a decisive role. The increase in the share of medium-high and high-tech products in exports indicates Turkey’s ongoing transition from quantity to quality in exports.

The report’s assessments emphasize that sustainable export growth can be achieved through unit price, product quality, and market depth. Turkey’s supply advantage from its close geography, strong industrial infrastructure, and logistics capabilities are prominent in key markets, especially the European Union. The effectiveness of export finance mechanisms, market diversification strategies, and policies supporting high-tech production will play a critical role in permanently strengthening exports.
