Istanbul, January 27 – An operation targeting an organized crime group, led by a fugitive identified as U.Ş. with the code name ‘Piro’, has resulted in the arrest of six suspects and one juvenile. The investigation, spearheaded by the Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, spanned four provinces, with Istanbul as its hub. While six suspects and one juvenile have been remanded in custody, one suspect was released under judicial control, and efforts to apprehend another fugitive are ongoing.
Operation Targets Organized Crime Group Led by ‘Piro’
The Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, through its Bureau of Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations, has been actively working to ensure public safety and peace, as well as to identify and dismantle criminal organizations. As part of these efforts, a simultaneous operation was launched on October 17 against the crime organization managed by U.Ş., known as ‘Piro’.
A statement released by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the ongoing investigation has uncovered new criminal activities, necessitating further public disclosure. This deepening of the investigation led to the apprehension of an additional suspect and a juvenile involved in criminal activities.
Six Suspects and One Juvenile Remanded
Following the recent arrests, legal proceedings were initiated, resulting in a request to the Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace for the arrest of six suspects and the juvenile, and for the judicial control of one other suspect. The Judgeship subsequently ordered the arrest of the six suspects and the juvenile, while one suspect was released under judicial control. Authorities confirmed that efforts to locate and apprehend one remaining fugitive are still in progress.
