Ministry of Family and Social Services Denies Child Abuse Allegations at Istanbul Children’s Home
Istanbul, February 4 – The Ministry of Family and Social Services has issued a statement vehemently denying allegations published by a news website concerning alleged violence against a 9-year-old child at a Children’s Home in Istanbul. The Ministry stated that the claims are “completely contrary to the truth.”
Following the emergence of these allegations, the Ministry promptly initiated an administrative investigation to thoroughly clarify all aspects of the incident. As part of this inquiry, all personnel present at the scene during the alleged event were interviewed, and surveillance camera footage was meticulously reviewed.
Clarification on the Incident
The Ministry’s statement provided details regarding the actual circumstances of the event, which was misrepresented in the news report. According to the Ministry, the child in question experienced a brief health crisis on June 3, 2025, upon returning from school, due to an existing medical condition.
“As clearly seen in the footage, officials from the institution intervened in the garden of the facility to prevent our child from harming himself,” the statement clarified. The Ministry emphasized that this intervention, which was conducted in plain sight and with the child’s best interests at heart, was maliciously portrayed as “violence.”
Legal Action to Be Taken
The Ministry condemned the news report, stating, “Presenting this intervention, which prioritized the child’s best interests and occurred in full view of everyone, as ‘violence’ is a deliberate distortion of the truth and a clear violation of press ethics.”
The Ministry further announced its intention to pursue all legal rights against these “unfounded and irresponsible publications that mislead the public.”
Background of the Allegations
The allegations, which have been strongly denied by the Ministry, initially appeared on a news website. The Ministry’s swift response and detailed clarification aim to counter the misinformation and protect the reputation of the Children’s Home and its staff.
The incident highlights the importance of accurate reporting, especially when dealing with sensitive issues involving children and vulnerable populations. The Ministry’s commitment to transparency through a full administrative investigation and review of camera footage underscores its dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of children under its care.
Further updates on the administrative investigation are expected as the process continues. The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of care and protection for all children residing in its facilities.
