Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) is initiating a one-way traffic system on strategic routes around Armada Shopping Mall to alleviate traffic congestion at its connection to Eskişehir Road.

ABB Implements One-Way System Near Armada Mall

According to a written statement from ABB, the Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has made arrangements around Armada AVM, following similar implementations at Kentpark, Cepa, and Ankamall AVMs. The primary goal is to address the persistent traffic bottlenecks experienced at the Armada AVM and Eskişehir Road (Dumlupınar Boulevard) junction.

Details of the New Traffic Arrangement

As part of this new regulation, Yaşam Caddesi, 3. Sokak, and Nergiz Sokak will operate as one-way streets starting from February 28, 2026. The traffic flow will commence from the Armada AVM entrance and proceed towards Sakıp Sabancı Boulevard.

To ensure the safe management of traffic, a smart signaling system has been installed at the junction of Nergiz Sokak and Sakıp Sabancı Boulevard. This advanced system synchronizes vehicle exits onto the main road, thereby maximizing traffic safety. Furthermore, this arrangement facilitates a controlled flow of vehicles joining the main boulevard, contributing to overall traffic efficiency.

This initiative by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality underscores its commitment to improving urban infrastructure and enhancing the daily commute for its citizens. The strategic implementation of one-way systems and smart signaling technology is expected to significantly reduce congestion and improve road safety in one of Ankara’s busiest commercial districts.

Broader Context of Traffic Management in Ankara

The introduction of this one-way system is part of a larger effort by ABB to manage traffic effectively across the city. Similar measures have been successfully implemented in other high-traffic areas, demonstrating the municipality’s proactive approach to urban planning and transportation solutions. The focus on strategic locations like major shopping centers reflects an understanding of the patterns of urban mobility and the need for adaptable traffic management strategies.

The municipality continues to monitor traffic conditions and evaluate the effectiveness of these implementations, with a view to replicating successful models in other congested areas of Ankara. The long-term objective is to create a more fluid and safer traffic environment for all road users in the capital city.
