Ankara Anti-Narcotics Teams Seize 810,000 Narcotic Pills in Major Operation
Ankara, March 6 – Anti-narcotics teams in Ankara successfully concluded a month-long surveillance operation by seizing a staggering 810,000 narcotic pills. Two individuals, identified as Y.S. and K.B., were arrested in connection with the bust and have since been remanded in custody by the court.
Intelligence Led to Extensive Surveillance
The Ankara Police Department’s Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch launched an investigation following intelligence reports indicating that a significant quantity of narcotic pills was being brought into the city for distribution among street dealers. As part of this extensive inquiry, Y.S., believed to be responsible for the procurement and distribution of the drugs, was placed under surveillance.
Following approximately one month of technical and physical surveillance, anti-narcotics teams initiated simultaneous operations in the Yenimahalle and Altındağ districts. These coordinated raids led to the discovery and seizure of the 810,000 narcotic pills. Y.S. was apprehended during the operation, along with K.B., who is alleged to have been responsible for the distribution of the drugs.
Proceeds from Drug Trafficking Confiscated
In addition to the massive drug seizure, police teams also confiscated 186,400 Turkish Liras, 300 Euros, and 100 US Dollars. These funds are believed to be proceeds derived from drug trafficking activities.
The successful operation underscores the ongoing efforts of Ankara’s law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes and disrupt the supply chains of illicit substances within the city. The two arrested suspects face charges related to drug trafficking.
