Libyan Embassy in Ankara Hosts Quran Recitation and Memorization Competition Awards Ceremony

Ankara, March 15 – The Libyan Embassy in Ankara hosted an awards ceremony for the “Fifth Libya Es-Selam Quran Memorization and Tajweed Competition.” The event, which took place at the Hasan Tanık Mosque, celebrated the achievements of participants from various Islamic countries.

Awards Ceremony Held at Hasan Tanık Mosque

The ceremony was attended by Mustafa el-Kuleyb, the Libyan Ambassador to Ankara, Sid Ahmed El Bekaye Hamadi, the Mauritanian Ambassador to Ankara, diplomatic representatives from numerous Islamic countries, and a large number of guests. The event commenced with participants reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

Ambassador Kuleyb stated that nearly 200 applications were received from 11 Islamic countries for the competition. Following a four-day elimination process at the Hasan Tanık Mosque, over 130 students qualified to participate. Kuleyb emphasized that the competition is held annually to encourage beautiful recitation and memorization of the Quran in Arab and Islamic countries, including Turkey.

Appreciation for Turkish Support and Government Initiatives

Kuleyb extended his gratitude to those who contributed to the organization of the competition, specifically thanking Turkey’s security and political authorities for their support over the past five years. He also expressed appreciation to the Libyan Government of National Unity for its backing.

Ambassador Hamadi also thanked the organizers and contributors, commending the Turkish government and people for promoting such activities related to the Holy Quran. He further thanked the Presidency of Religious Affairs for creating a spiritual atmosphere at the mosque, stating that “Quranic studies should be appreciated in all aspects.”

Ezzeddin Arbi, the Academic Attaché of the Libyan Embassy in Ankara, speaking to Anadolu Agency, highlighted that this was the fifth edition of the Quran recitation competition. He reiterated his gratitude to Turkey and its institutions for their unwavering support in organizing the event.

Iftar Program Concludes the Event

Following the speeches, awards were presented to the successful participants. An iftar program was then held at a hotel in Ankara for the participants and guests. Hasan Çınar, the Provincial Mufti of Ankara, who attended the iftar, praised the Quran competition organized by the Libyan Embassy in Ankara.

The event underscores the ongoing efforts to foster religious education and cultural exchange between Libya and other Islamic nations, with Ankara serving as a key hub for such initiatives.
