Kızılcahamam, Ankara, March 17 – Storks, the traditional harbingers of spring, have successfully concluded their arduous, thousands-of-kilometres-long migratory journey from North Africa and the Middle East, reaching the Kızılcahamam district of Ankara. Their arrival once again signals the onset of spring in the region.

Storks Settle into the Dedicated ‘Stork Hotel’

Upon completing their long and exhausting journey, these migratory birds have taken residence in the ‘Stork Hotel’ located within the district. This unique facility, built by a local businessman to support nature and wildlife in Kızılcahamam, is once again hosting the returning storks. Constructed on high poles and designed to provide a safe and secure lodging for the birds, the ‘Stork Hotel’ has become a popular destination for numerous storks each year.

An Integral Part of Kızılcahamam’s Natural Life

Known as the heralds of spring, these storks migrate annually from Africa and the Middle East to Kızılcahamam, Ankara, spending their summer months in the specially prepared ‘Stork Hotel’. These recurring scenes have become an integral part of the district’s natural life, captivating both local residents and nature enthusiasts alike.

Breeding Season Commences After 10,000 km Journey

Having travelled approximately 10,000 kilometres to reach Turkey, the storks are currently in their mating season. They are expected to lay their eggs in April and welcome their offspring in May, following a pattern observed almost every year at the ‘Stork Hotel’.

Nature Awakens with the Storks’ Return

In Kızılcahamam, the storks are regarded as one of the most beautiful symbols of spring’s arrival. The magnificent sights they create in the sky and the new life cycles beginning in their nests once again highlight the awakening of nature.
