The “Youth Meet in Historic Peninsula Program,” organized by the Eyüpsultan Önder Imam Hatip High School Students Association (ESÖNDER), was successfully held with the participation of students from Imam Hatip high schools in Eyüpsultan. The event aimed to connect young people with the rich history and cultural heritage of Istanbul, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

Iftar Dinner at Hacı Beşir Ağa Madrasah

The program commenced with an iftar dinner at the Hacı Beşir Ağa Madrasah, located adjacent to the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. This setting provided a spiritually enriching atmosphere for the students as they broke their fast together, fostering a sense of community and shared experience during Ramadan.

Exploring Istanbul’s Historic Heart

Following the iftar, the students embarked on a “civilization walk” through the streets of the Historic Peninsula. This immersive experience allowed them to observe Istanbul’s deep-rooted history firsthand and to intimately connect with its civilizational heritage. The walk offered a unique opportunity for the young participants to appreciate the architectural marvels and historical significance of the area.

Program Concludes with Tarawih Prayer

The event concluded after the performance of the Tarawih prayer, marking a spiritual end to an evening dedicated to cultural exploration and communal bonding. The organizers emphasized the importance of such programs in nurturing the social and spiritual development of the youth.

ESÖNDER’s Commitment to Youth Development

Ahmet Soytürk, the president of ESÖNDER, reiterated the association’s commitment to continuing such programs that contribute to both the social and spiritual growth of young people. He highlighted the significance of experiencing the spirit of unity, solidarity, and sharing that Ramadan embodies, especially with the younger generation.

Gratitude was extended to the teachers who contributed to the realization of the program and to all the students who participated, making the event a success. The program underscored the value of engaging youth in activities that deepen their understanding and appreciation of their cultural and religious heritage.

This initiative by ESÖNDER is part of a broader effort to provide meaningful experiences for students, linking them with the historical and spiritual fabric of Istanbul. Such events are crucial for fostering a sense of identity and belonging among the youth, while also promoting the values of community and shared heritage.

The regions listed in the raw data, such as Marmara, Aegean, Black Sea, Central Anatolia, Mediterranean, Southeastern Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia, represent the diverse geographical and cultural landscape of Turkey, though the event specifically took place in Istanbul, a city within the Marmara region.
