Ankara, the capital of the Republic, has had its historical accumulation and cultural memory transferred to canvas by artists and presented to art lovers. Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited the “Capital Ankara” exhibition, which welcomes visitors in the upper floor Foyer Area of CSO Ada Ankara.
Ankara Declared Turkish World Tourism Capital 2026
In his evaluation of the exhibition, Minister Ersoy drew attention to the ongoing efforts within the scope of Ankara being selected as the Turkish World Tourism Capital. He stated: “As you know, Ankara was chosen as the Turkish World Tourism Capital by the Organization of Turkic States in 2026. In this context, we are carrying out a series of events with our Ministry of Culture and Tourism and local administrations. Within the scope of the Culture Road Festival, we adapted the Art Square painting workshop, an important event of the Ankara Culture Road Festival, to the Tourism Capital events. In this context, this exhibition features 24 artworks by 22 artists. These paintings were created in 2025.”
Art for Promotion, Culture for Memory on the Same Stage
Ersoy stated that the exhibition includes works depicting Ankara from various perspectives, including instantaneous images from past to present. He emphasized that the exhibition is important for tourism promotion and also for showcasing the level of culture and art in Ankara, with artists from many parts of Turkey participating.
Ersoy said, “Especially, as you know, when you are chosen as the Turkish World Tourism Capital, one of our most important goals is not only to bring that chosen country to a certain point with culture and art, but also to promote its prominence among Turkic states in terms of tourism.”
Pointing out that the painting exhibition depicting Ankara serves both purposes, Ersoy concluded his remarks by saying: “You both carry out a cultural activity, and when you look at the subjects and contents of the paintings here, we introduce all Turkic states well through art.”
