Istanbul, March 22 – A shocking incident unfolded last night in Istanbul’s Fatih district, where a man stands accused of murdering his wife and then setting their apartment on fire. The suspect, identified as H.A., was later apprehended by police after fleeing the scene.
Tragedy Strikes in Zeyrek Mahallesi
The incident occurred in an apartment located on the top floor of a four-story building on Şebnem Street in Zeyrek Mahallesi. Firefighters, alerted to the blaze by an unknown cause, responded to the scene along with police and medical teams. After extinguishing the fire, emergency personnel discovered the lifeless body of 29-year-old Semanur Algül inside the apartment.
Medical examinations confirmed Algül’s death, and her body was subsequently transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for further investigation.

Residents of the building reported to authorities that Algül’s husband was seen fleeing the apartment shortly after the fire erupted. Acting on this information, police launched an immediate search operation, which led to the swift apprehension of H.A. He was taken into custody for questioning.
It has been revealed that Semanur Algül, a mother of one, had been living separately from her husband for some time and had reportedly returned to the house on the day of the incident.
