Snowfall Transforms Ankara’s High Peaks into Winter Wonderland

Ankara, March 29 – The higher elevations of Ankara’s Beypazarı district have been blanketed in white following significant snowfall, as cold weather conditions continue to prevail across the capital region. The picturesque change was observed particularly in areas such as Karaşar, Keltepe, and Kirazyanı, which are known for their elevated positions.

The cold front brought a combination of snow and heavy rain to the high-altitude regions of Beypazarı. This precipitation has not only transformed the landscape but also had an impact on local waterways. In Uruş Mahallesi, a district of Beypazarı, the water level of the Süvari Stream has notably risen due to the persistent rain and melting snow. Residents captured the moments of heavy rainfall on their mobile phones, documenting the unusual weather for the season.

The sudden drop in temperature and the accompanying snowfall mark a significant shift in weather patterns for the region, prompting local authorities to advise caution for residents and travelers in the affected areas. While the snowfall is a welcome sight for many, particularly in terms of water reserves, it also poses challenges for transportation and daily life in the more remote, higher-altitude villages.

Meteorological experts have indicated that the cold weather system is expected to persist for a few more days, with further precipitation anticipated. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions, especially those planning to travel through the snowy regions.
