Istanbul, April 2 – An operation conducted in Esenler has led to the seizure of a significant amount of counterfeit US dollars and Euros, as well as equipment used in their production. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and have since been remanded in custody.

The operation, carried out under the directive of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Anti-Smuggling and Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau, was coordinated by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Istanbul MIT Regional Presidency. Authorities raided a residence in Esenler, where they discovered a substantial cache of counterfeit currency and manufacturing tools.
The items seized include:
- 1.25 million counterfeit US dollars
- 655,000 counterfeit Euros
- 1 paper cutting machine
- 1 money verification device
- 1 money printing mold machine
- 800 holograms
- 2 iron molds for money printing
- 18 plastic molds
The scale of the seizure indicates a sophisticated operation aimed at producing and distributing large quantities of fake currency.
Three Suspects Apprehended and Remanded
During the operation, three suspects identified as M.C.S., M.D., and M.N.S. were apprehended. Following their processing at the police department, they were transferred to the courthouse. The suspects appeared before the court and were subsequently remanded in custody, being sent to prison.
