Ankara, April 11 – The Ankara Training and Research Hospital’s Zekai Tahir Burak Annex Newborn Intensive Care Unit was the site of a significant handover ceremony today. Medical devices procured under the ‘Rotarian Breath’ project, an international collaboration led by the International Rotary Foundation and the Ankara Çayyolu Rotary Club, were officially delivered. The project aims to provide a healthier start for newborn babies.

International Cooperation for Newborn Health

The event, hosted by Rtn. Elif Tığlı Özcihan, 2024-2025 Term President of the Ankara Çayyolu Rotary Club, and Rtn. Emrah Albustanoğlu, 2025-2026 Term President, saw the participation of project stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and invited guests. Local support for the project also came from the Ankara Bahçelievler Rotary Club, Ankara Anıttepe Rotary Club, and Ankara Çayyolu Rotaract Club.

This initiative represents a crucial contribution to the healthcare sector and stands as a powerful example of international solidarity in action, focusing on supporting newborns to have a healthier beginning in life.

Vital Equipment for Premature Babies

As part of the project, the hospital received one neonatal ventilator and four transcutaneous bilirubin measurement devices. The ventilator, specifically designed with technical features suitable for the needs of premature babies, has already commenced service in the newborn intensive care unit.
