Yellow Code Warning for 13 Provinces: Snow and Rain Expected Across Turkey

The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a yellow code warning for 13 provinces, forecasting heavy rain and snow. Temperatures are expected to remain below seasonal averages across the country. This announcement comes as part of the latest weather report released on April 12, 2026, at 07:52 AM.

Widespread Precipitation and Below-Average Temperatures

According to the report, 13 provinces are under a yellow code warning, indicating potential for severe weather conditions. The affected areas are expected to experience significant rainfall and snowfall. Wind patterns are predicted to be light to moderate, blowing from the south and southwest in the southeastern regions, and from the north and northwest elsewhere.

Precipitation types will vary, with general rain and showers, occasional thunderstorms in the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeastern Anatolia, and mixed rain and snow, or solely snow, in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, and some areas of Central Anatolia.

Notably, precipitation is expected to be heavy in the eastern parts of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia (excluding Iğdır and Van). Frost and freezing conditions, along with fog and mist, are anticipated in the inner and eastern regions during morning and night hours.

Furthermore, there is a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, particularly in steep areas with high snow cover.

Frost and freezing conditions, along with fog and mist, are expected throughout the region during morning and night hours.

Western Black Sea Region

Partly cloudy to very cloudy. Kastamonu and the inner parts of Sinop will experience rain and showers. Frost and freezing conditions are expected in the inner parts of the region during morning and night hours.

Frost and freezing conditions, along with fog and mist, are expected in the inner parts of the region during morning and night hours. There is also a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, particularly in steep areas with high snow cover.

  • RİZE: 11°C, partly cloudy to very cloudy, intermittent rain and showers

Eastern Anatolia Region

Very cloudy. The entire region will experience intermittent precipitation. Generally, rain and showers, with mixed rain and snow or snow in the eastern parts. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the eastern parts of the region (excluding Iğdır and Van). Frost and freezing conditions are expected during morning and night hours. There is also a risk of avalanches and snowmelt in the steep areas with high snow cover in the eastern parts of the region.

  • KARS: 6°C, very cloudy, intermittent mixed rain and snow, heavy precipitation expected in the afternoon
  • MALATYA: 13°C, very cloudy, light rain and showers in the afternoon
  • VAN: 8°C, very cloudy, intermittent rain and mixed rain and snow

Southeastern Anatolia Region

Very cloudy. The entire region will experience intermittent rain and showers, with occasional thunderstorms. Precipitation is expected to be locally heavy in the eastern parts of the region.
