Istanbul, April 16 – A horrific murder occurred in Istanbul’s Kartal district, where 59-year-old Ruhan Çalu was found stabbed to death in her home. Police have arrested a 20-year-old suspect, M.D.G., in Kocaeli.
Details of the Incident
According to reports, neighbors in the Esentepe neighborhood of Kartal heard sounds coming from Ruhan Çalu’s apartment in the morning and reported it to the police. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Upon entering the apartment, which had an open door, teams found Ruhan Çalu in a pool of blood.
Medical examinations confirmed that Çalu, who had been stabbed in various parts of her body, had succumbed to her injuries. After crime scene investigation teams completed their work, Çalu’s body was transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
Investigation and Suspect Apprehension
Homicide detectives conducted searches in nearby garbage containers as part of their investigation. As a result of the police’s efforts, M.D.G. (20) was identified as the suspect in Ruhan Çalu’s murder.
Investigations revealed that the suspect left the house after committing the murder and fled the scene in a taxi. M.D.G. was subsequently apprehended in Kocaeli, where he had fled, and taken into custody.
