Istanbul, April 22 – The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has issued a heavy rain warning for the city. The Marmara region, including Istanbul, has come under the influence of cold and rainy weather from the Balkans, with intermittent rainfall expected until Friday.

Heavy Rainfall Expected Today, Temperatures Below Seasonal Norms

According to AKOM’s statement, temperatures in Istanbul are forecast to remain between 12-16 degrees Celsius, which is below seasonal averages. Today, especially from noon onwards, rainfall is expected to intensify and occur heavily in some areas.

AKOM has urged citizens to take precautions against potential adverse effects of the anticipated heavy rainfall.

Sunny Weekend Ahead, Temperatures to Rise

Looking ahead, a mostly sunny sky is predicted for Istanbul starting this weekend, with temperatures expected to climb to around 20 degrees Celsius.

The current weather pattern is a result of cold and rainy air masses moving in from the Balkans, affecting the entire Marmara region.

Other News and Warnings

This weather alert comes amidst other significant news, including the filling of the Alaköprü Dam, submerging an old settlement, and an international call for Italy to participate in the World Cup instead of Iran.

Global news also highlights declining approval ratings for Trump, a Pentagon announcement regarding a US Navy commander’s departure, and Iran’s statement on the impossibility of opening the Strait of Hormuz.

Meteorological warnings, including “yellow code” alerts, have been issued for 16 provinces across Turkey due to snow, rain, and storms.

Citizens are advised to stay informed through official channels for further updates on weather conditions and other critical developments.
