Ankara, May 1 – The inaugural meeting of the “Entrepreneurial Women of Turkey” protocol, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Family and Social Services and Hepsiburada, took place in Ankara. This event marks the beginning of a series of gatherings designed to empower women entrepreneurs and women’s cooperatives by enhancing their access to e-commerce and supporting the expansion of their existing businesses.

Training and Employment Initiatives for Women

The meetings, scheduled to continue throughout the year in various cities, will provide comprehensive training. These sessions will guide new entrepreneurs venturing into e-commerce and facilitate experience sharing among established women entrepreneurs on growth strategies, operational efficiencies, and marketing processes.

Süreyya Erkan, General Director of Women’s Status at the Ministry of Family and Social Services, emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting women’s stronger representation in the business world. She highlighted several successful programs:

  • Rising Women Program
  • “Hobin İşin Olsun” Project
  • Women’s Energy School
  • Young Women Building Their Future Project

These initiatives have collectively provided thousands of women with training, mentorship, and employment support. Furthermore, efforts to strengthen women’s cooperatives have reached approximately 247,000 individuals and supported the establishment of 1,366 new cooperatives.

Targeting 120,000 Women in E-commerce by 2030

Erkan also announced that the new training series under the protocol would offer practical education to women entrepreneurs in areas such as e-commerce, sales enhancement techniques, and AI-supported content creation. “To date, we have contributed to over 10,000 women entrepreneurs starting to sell through e-commerce,” she stated.

Cem Tanır, Vice President of Corporate Relations, Communications, and Sustainability at Hepsiburada, reiterated the company’s ambitious goal: “As Hepsiburada, we aim to connect 120,000 women with e-commerce by 2030.”

The collaboration underscores a significant push towards fostering economic independence and growth for women across Turkey through digital platforms. The ongoing series of meetings and training programs are expected to play a crucial role in achieving these targets, contributing to a more inclusive and dynamic economy.
