Istanbul, May 13 – A ground-floor workplace in a three-story building in Istanbul’s Küçükçekmece district was engulfed in flames on Wednesday night, causing panic and leading to three employees being affected by smoke. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and successfully brought the blaze under control. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 PM, prompted a swift response from emergency services.
Fire Erupts in Küçükçekmece Workplace
The fire originated in a workplace located on Sultan Murad Street in the Sultan Murad neighborhood of Küçükçekmece. The flames quickly spread throughout the premises, prompting concerned citizens to alert emergency services via the 112 Emergency Call Center. The rapid escalation of the fire led to a significant response from police, health, and fire department teams.
Three Employees Affected by Smoke
During the initial stages of the fire, three employees who attempted to extinguish the blaze were affected by smoke inhalation. They received immediate medical attention from paramedics at the scene, with treatment administered inside ambulances. Fortunately, their conditions were not reported as severe.
Mobile phone footage captured by witnesses showed the workplace fully engulfed in flames, highlighting the intensity of the incident and the panic it caused among onlookers. These visuals quickly circulated, underscoring the severity of the fire.
Investigation Launched into Cause of Fire
Following the successful containment of the fire by the Istanbul Fire Department, an investigation has been initiated to determine its cause. This incident is one of several recent events in Küçükçekmece. On May 11, a parked construction machine caught fire in the district, rendering the vehicle unusable. Earlier, on May 8, a مسلح clash between rival individuals in Küçükçekmece resulted in the apprehension of two suspects. Additionally, on May 4, masked assailants opened fire in the district before fleeing the scene, causing widespread concern.
