Istanbul Reaches Decade-High Global Ranking in Congress Tourism
Istanbul, May 19, 2026 – Istanbul has achieved its best global ranking in congress tourism in the last decade, climbing to 13th in Europe and 18th worldwide by hosting 95 international large-scale congresses in 2025. This significant rise reflects the city’s growing prominence as a major destination for international events.
According to the GlobeWatch 2025 ICCA Countries and Cities Ranking Report, Turkey maintained its global position at 33rd with 142 international large-scale congresses in 2025, while also securing 18th place in the European rankings last year. Istanbul itself rose two places from 15th in Europe and 20th globally in 2024, further solidifying its role as a key driver of Turkey’s performance in the international congress market.
