Driver Fined 180,000 TL, License Suspended for Assaulting Female Driver in Sancaktepe
Istanbul, May 24 – A male driver has been heavily fined and had his license suspended after an altercation with a female driver following a traffic accident in Sancaktepe. The incident, which took place yesterday afternoon, was recorded by bystanders on their mobile phones and quickly circulated on social media.
The event unfolded around 3:30 PM yesterday, May 23, on Ulubatlı Hasan Street in Eyüpsultan Neighborhood. According to initial reports, a minor traffic accident led to a heated argument between the two drivers involved. The dispute escalated rapidly, culminating in Ramazan K. (30) physically assaulting Sibel K. (32).
Police Investigation and Immediate Action
Police authorities, alerted to the incident by the widely shared video footage on social media, launched an immediate investigation. Ramazan K. was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody. Following his arrest, law enforcement officials imposed a substantial administrative fine of 180,000 Turkish Liras on Ramazan K. for ‘persistently following another vehicle with the intent to assault or exiting a vehicle for this purpose in traffic’.
In addition to the hefty fine, Ramazan K.’s driver’s license has been confiscated for a period of 60 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for the same duration. Authorities have also indicated that Ramazan K. will be referred to the courthouse on charges of ‘Intentional Injury’.
