Five Suspects Detained in Ankara Loan Sharking Operation

Ankara, June 17 – Five individuals were apprehended in Ankara during a gendarmerie operation targeting loan sharking. The operation, conducted by the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command’s Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch (KOM), focused on combating loan shark activities across the city.

Gendarmerie Operation Targets Loan Sharks in Ankara

The operation, coordinated by the Ankara Western Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, led to the arrest of five suspects identified as Ş.K., E.K., E.K., Ç.O., and B.B. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing effort to dismantle organized crime networks involved in illegal financial practices.

Extensive Seizures During Raids

During searches conducted at the suspects’ residences and workplaces, authorities seized a significant amount of evidence. This included 60 promissory notes, 34 of which were filled out, 2 title deeds, 2 agendas, 5 mobile phones, 5 SIM cards, and 4 purchase-sale agreements. These items are believed to be instrumental in the suspects’ loan sharking activities.

Furthermore, authorities confiscated assets belonging to the suspects, including 4 plots of land, 6 residences, 4 vehicles, and 106 bank accounts. These seizures highlight the scale of the alleged illegal operations and the potential financial gains acquired through illicit means.

Investigation Continues

The Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command’s KOM branch initiated the investigation into loan sharking activities across the city. The coordinated effort with the Ankara Western Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office underscores the commitment of law enforcement to combat financial crimes and protect citizens from exploitative practices.

The suspects remain in custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are expected to delve deeper into the seized documents and assets to uncover the full extent of the loan sharking network and identify any additional individuals involved.
