Istanbul is set to host the NATO Parliamentary Summit on June 28-29, an important platform for parliamentary-level consultation and exchange of views before the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
TBMM Speaker to Host the Summit
According to a statement from the Parliament Speaker’s Office, TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş will host the event. The summit will bring together parliamentary speakers and delegation heads from 32 allied nations, along with NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) President Marcos Perestrello, NATO PA Bureau members, and other high-level representatives.
Third Summit of Its Kind
This summit marks the third of its kind, following previous gatherings in the United States and Belgium. Since 2024, NATO PA has organized these summits in cooperation with host countries, aiming to strengthen parliamentary coordination and dialogue among allied nations.
President Erdoğan Expected to Address Participants
The NATO Speakers of Parliament Summit Meeting will take place on Monday, June 29, at Dolmabahçe Palace. During the meeting, parliamentary speakers and delegation heads will deliver speeches. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to meet with the participants at an official luncheon and deliver an address.
Visit to Baykar National Technology Center
As part of the summit program, participants will undertake a field visit to the Baykar National Technology Center in the afternoon of the same day. The visit aims to provide information about the company’s activities, its work in defense technologies, and innovative projects.
This summit is a crucial preparatory step for the upcoming NATO Leaders’ Summit, allowing for comprehensive discussions and alignment on key issues among parliamentary representatives from member states.
