ANKARA, (DHA) – Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that he met with London Ambassador Osman Koray Ertaş, Zero Waste Foundation President Samed Agırbaş, and NGO representatives in London at an information meeting hosted by the Turkish Embassy.

Turkey’s Energy Vision and Global Crises
Minister Bayraktar further emphasized Turkey’s commitment to energy security and independence. “We believe it is critical to ensure energy supply security and eliminate external dependence in an era of global crises; we are equipping Turkey with a stronger infrastructure, from nuclear energy to renewable resources, from our domestic production moves to our carbon-neutral economy target,” he added.
The meeting served as a platform to highlight Turkey’s proactive approach to environmental sustainability and energy independence, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and promote efficient resource management. The discussions with the Zero Waste Foundation and local NGOs in London underscore the international dimension of Turkey’s environmental policies and its commitment to fostering partnerships for a more sustainable future.
The Zero Waste vision, championed by Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, aims to minimize waste generation and maximize resource efficiency across all sectors. This initiative is a cornerstone of Turkey’s environmental strategy, promoting a circular economy model that benefits both the environment and the economy.
Collaboration for a Sustainable Future
The presence of NGO representatives at the meeting indicates a collaborative approach to implementing and promoting zero waste principles. Engaging with civil society organizations is crucial for raising awareness, fostering community participation, and driving behavioral change towards more sustainable practices.
Energy efficiency, a key component of the discussions, plays a vital role in achieving the zero-waste goal by reducing energy consumption and associated waste. Turkey’s investment in diverse energy sources, including nuclear and renewables, reflects a comprehensive strategy to secure its energy future while minimizing its carbon footprint.
The Turkish Embassy in London played a significant role in facilitating this important dialogue, providing a diplomatic platform for international cooperation on critical environmental and energy issues. Such meetings are instrumental in sharing best practices, forging new partnerships, and advancing global sustainability agendas.
Minister Bayraktar’s visit to London and his engagement with key stakeholders on the Zero Waste initiative demonstrate Turkey’s dedication to becoming a leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable development. The country’s ambitious targets for a carbon-neutral economy and its focus on domestic production highlight a strategic vision for a resilient and environmentally responsible future.
The discussions in London are expected to pave the way for further collaborations and initiatives aimed at strengthening Turkey’s zero-waste infrastructure and promoting energy efficiency on a broader scale. The commitment to these goals is not only vital for Turkey but also contributes to the global effort to address environmental challenges and build a more sustainable world for future generations.
