Ankara, June 26 – Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who recently joined the AK Party, declared, “Just as our doors were wide open to everyone in the past, they will continue to be open. We have only one philosophy, and that is public service municipality.”
Özarslan Joins AK Party, Pledges to Continue Public Service
Mayor Özarslan received his party badge from President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the AK Party Extended Provincial Chairmen’s Meeting. Speaking after the ceremony, Özarslan expressed his honor to be part of the AK Party under President Erdoğan’s leadership, contributing to the ‘Century of Turkey’. He stated, “We are living the first letters and first lines of a brand new success story here today with my district chairman, the beautiful organizations of our district, our council members, and the noble people of Keçiören, the ‘pure-hearted’ great Turkish Nation. Together, we will realize the plans and programs to build a completely different Ankara with our party’s excellent organizations.”
A Commitment to Serving the People
Özarslan emphasized that politics is not a path to be walked alone, especially when it concerns Keçiören, a district with a population of 1 million and considered the heart of Ankara. He stressed that shouldering such a responsibility is only possible with strong organizations. “From now on, as we serve Keçiören, we will walk together, drawing strength, prayers, and hard work from our organization. Just as our doors were wide open to everyone in the past, they will continue to be open. We have only one philosophy, and that is public service municipality,” he reiterated.
Özarslan drew a parallel to the historical transformation of Istanbul under President Erdoğan’s leadership. “My dear fellow citizens, remember Istanbul, entrusted to us by Fatih Sultan Mehmet Han, it was in filth, and citizens could not find water. Then, Turkey’s son, world leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emerged and transformed Istanbul into a paradise. We will continue this same vision. We will believe together on the path of justice. We believe that we will provide excellent services to Keçiören and then to Ankara. May our transition to the AK Party today be auspicious and blessed for our homeland, our nation, and Keçiören,” he concluded.
The event signifies a significant political move for Mayor Özarslan and highlights the AK Party’s ongoing efforts to consolidate political support across various municipalities.
