Istanbul, June 28 – Ibn Haldun University celebrated its 8th Graduation Ceremony at its Başakşehir Campus. The event, held on June 28, 2026, brought together a distinguished assembly of guests, including Presidency Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, Ibn Haldun University Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, TRNC Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu, Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) President Mehmet Daniş, and Turkish Airlines (THY) Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, along with academics, students, and their families.
President Erdoğan’s Message Emphasizes Education and Research
A message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was read aloud by a student during the ceremony. In his message, President Erdoğan highlighted the universities’ aim to provide students with comprehensive professional knowledge, a research-oriented and questioning perspective, and a contribution to knowledge production. He stated, “Our country is confidently progressing towards its Türkiye Century goals. The most important actors to accelerate this journey are our well-educated and qualified youth. Dear young people, you must prioritize education, reading, and research at every stage of your lives to carry our country to brighter tomorrows. On this proud day, I congratulate you, your families, and all those who contributed to your upbringing, especially our esteemed faculty members. I wish you success in your new lives and professional careers, and I extend my heartfelt greetings to the distinguished guests attending the ceremony.”
Burhanettin Duran: Ibn Haldun University a ‘Shining Star’
Presidency Communications Director Burhanettin Duran addressed the graduates, expressing his pleasure at being present. “Ibn Haldun University has become a shining star in its own firmament by institutionalizing in such a short time,” Duran remarked. He added, “It is a great honor for me to have served as a faculty member at this esteemed institution, which is based on its own civilization’s heritage but also embraces all the sciences of the world. We are talking about an experience that charts its own course in revitalizing the world and preparing for the future, even telling its story to all humanity by saying ‘A more just world is possible.’ This, in my eyes, is the claim of Ibn Haldun. One must strive to achieve a more just world. Live lives in such a way that you find a place in the prayers of the poor, the hope of the oppressed, and the hearts of the lonely.”
Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan Stresses Patience and High Expectations for Graduates
Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Ibn Haldun University Board of Trustees, spoke about the collective efforts made with patience and determination to achieve the university’s goals. Erdoğan stated, “We will continue on this path with determination. We always discuss and remind ourselves that a university needs more time to achieve great goals, and for that, one must be patient. Our expectations from our graduates are also very important for our university to reach its goals. I want to tell all our graduates: We trust you, but we expect a lot from you.”
Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz: Graduates are the ‘Work of the Academic Staff’
Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz, Chairman of the Ibn Haldun University Board of Trustees, emphasized that the graduating young people are the “work of the academic staff.” Gündüz addressed the families, saying, “Dear families, these children are essentially our children as much as they are yours. Young people, wherever you go, spread what you know to society. Be the leaders of society, lead them to good and beauty. We have no other expectations from you.”
Following the speeches, students were called to the stage one by one to receive their diplomas, and department valedictorians were presented with plaques.
