ISTANBUL (AA) – In Bakırköy, Istanbul, a driver was arrested after police found drugs in his car during a control stop. The driver has since been remanded in custody.
Police detect strong drug odor during routine stop
Teams from the Istanbul Provincial Police Department stopped a car for a routine check in the Ataköy neighborhood. During the stop, officers detected a strong odor of drugs emanating from the vehicle.
Drugs, cash, and mobile phone seized
Following the detection of the odor, officers conducted a thorough search of the car. They discovered 205 grams of drugs, a sum of money, and a mobile phone hidden in the car’s glove compartment.
Driver identified as M.D., 24, remanded in custody
The driver of the vehicle, identified as M.D., aged 24, was immediately taken into custody. After completing the necessary procedures at the police station, M.D. was referred to the courthouse, where he was subsequently remanded in custody.
