7th Turkey-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting to Convene in Ankara

Ankara, July 1, 2026 – The 7th Meeting of the Turkey-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group (OSPG) is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Ankara. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Jeenbek Kulubaev, will co-chair the high-level discussions, aiming to further solidify the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The meeting is expected to address a comprehensive agenda, building upon the strong political relations already established. Sources from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicate that the ministers will express satisfaction with the current level of bilateral political ties, emphasizing the significance of recent high-level visits and engagements.

Key Discussion Points and Bilateral Cooperation

Discussions will also involve an exchange of views on the preparations for upcoming high-level visits and summits. A primary focus will be on advancing cooperation across a multitude of sectors, including trade, economy, investment, energy, transportation, defense industry, education, and humanitarian-cultural affairs. Both ministers are anticipated to outline steps to achieve the 5 billion dollar trade volume target set by the Presidents of the two countries.

Minister Fidan is expected to underscore the importance of strengthening cooperation within multilateral platforms, particularly the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). Furthermore, he will reaffirm the critical role of enhancing connectivity and logistics infrastructure, with a specific emphasis on the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor. Regional and international issues, including developments concerning Ukraine, Iran, and Palestine, will also be part of the exchange of ideas.

Joint Statement and Cooperation Program

The meeting will conclude with the adoption of a Joint Declaration of the OSPG Meeting. Additionally, a Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the 2026-2027 period is slated for signing, formalizing future collaborative efforts. This gathering signifies a continued commitment from both Turkey and Kyrgyzstan to deepen their strategic alliance and expand their cooperation across various domains, contributing to regional stability and prosperity.
