ISTANBUL, (DHA) – In a simultaneous operation conducted across 5 provinces, centered in Istanbul, aimed at dismantling organized crime groups, 41 suspects were taken into custody and subsequently referred to court. Of these, 20 suspects were formally arrested and sent to prison by the court, while judicial control measures were imposed on 20 others. One individual was released after giving a statement at the police station.
Operation Launched to Dismantle Crime Rings
The Istanbul Security Directorate’s Public Order Branch initiated an investigation, coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, to apprehend suspects involved in 55 separate incidents across Istanbul and to dismantle organized crime groups. Teams carried out simultaneous raids on addresses identified in Istanbul, Adana, Kocaeli, Sivas, and Sakarya on February 20th. The operation, which received support from the Intelligence, Riot, and Special Operations Branch Directorates, led to the detention of 41 suspects.
20 Suspects Jailed After Judicial Proceedings
Following their processing at the police station, the suspects were transferred to the courthouse. The court subsequently ordered the arrest of 20 individuals, who were then sent to prison. Additionally, judicial control measures were implemented for 20 other suspects, and one person was released after providing a statement to the police.
