The Kapıkule border crossing, being one of Europe’s busiest land borders, is frequently targeted by smugglers attempting to transport various illicit goods.
Ongoing Fight Against Drug Trafficking
This incident follows a series of successful operations against drug trafficking in Turkey. Authorities continue to implement stringent measures and conduct regular checks at border crossings and within the country to curb the flow of illegal narcotics.
The seized skunk is expected to be destroyed following legal procedures, and the apprehended suspect will face charges related to drug trafficking. The investigation will aim to uncover the origins of the drug, its intended destination, and any larger criminal organizations involved.
The Interior Ministry reiterated its resolve to maintain a strong stance against all forms of organized crime, particularly drug trafficking, which poses a significant threat to public health and safety.
