Istanbul, April 7 – In a major crackdown on organized crime, 29 suspects, including the alleged leader Mustafa Aksu, have been formally arrested following an extensive operation across three provinces. The operation, spearheaded by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, targeted an armed criminal organization operating primarily in Silivri and other districts.
Details of the Operation and Arrests
The investigation, conducted by the Organized Crime Bureau of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, focused on a criminal enterprise involved in a wide range of illegal activities. These included establishing and leading an armed criminal organization, qualified robbery, manufacturing and trafficking of drugs, intentional injury with a weapon, extortionate threats, violations of Law No. 6136 (concerning firearms), usury, qualified fraud, abuse of trust, deprivation of liberty, and unlawfully providing or obtaining personal data.
Following comprehensive work by the Directorate of Organized Crime Branch, it was determined that the armed criminal organization, led by Mustafa Aksu and active in various districts, particularly Silivri, was involved in 28 separate criminal acts under these charges. A total of 52 suspects were identified for judicial proceedings.
Simultaneous operations were conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ to apprehend the suspects. During searches at the suspects’ residences, authorities seized 9 pistols, a hunting rifle, numerous promissory notes and valuable documents, and a large quantity of ammunition of various calibers.
Out of the 46 suspects apprehended during the operation, all underwent medical checks before being brought to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. After giving their statements to the prosecutor, 30 suspects were referred to the penal judgeship of peace with a request for arrest, while 16 were referred with a request for judicial control measures.

The judgeship subsequently ordered the arrest of 29 suspects, while 17 others were placed under judicial control measures. This outcome marks a significant step in dismantling the criminal network and bringing its members to justice.
