Istanbul, February 12 – A significant theft occurred in the underground parking lot of a residential complex in Istanbul’s Şenlikköy neighborhood, Bakırköy, where an estimated 30 million dollars in cash was stolen from a forex bureau owner’s vehicles. The incident, which took place in a 24-hour guarded site, has prompted a police investigation.

The Incident: A Daring Heist in a Secure Complex

According to reports, Bilal D., a forex bureau operator from Kapalıçarşı (Grand Bazaar), brought 30 million dollars, packed in sacks, to his residence in Bakırköy. He then allegedly placed these sacks into the trunks of two parked cars in the site’s underground parking lot. Shortly after, four individuals arrived in a vehicle, entered the parking area, broke the windows and trunks of Bilal D.’s cars, seized the sacks of money, and fled the scene.

Discovery of the Theft and Police Response

Bilal D. discovered the theft at approximately 08:30 AM today when he went to the parking lot and found the doors and windows of his vehicles broken, and the sacks of money missing. He immediately reported the incident to the police. Responding officers conducted an initial investigation at the site and in the parking area. They are currently reviewing security camera footage to identify and apprehend the four suspects involved in the robbery.

Details of the Stolen Funds and Ongoing Investigation

Bilal D. informed the police that the stolen sacks contained a total of 30 million dollars. The police are continuing their efforts to locate the perpetrators. The incident highlights concerns regarding security, even in supposedly guarded residential complexes, and the methods employed by criminals in high-value thefts.

Previous Incidents and Broader Context

This incident follows other recent crime reports in the region, such as the arrest of three individuals for a molotov cocktail attack on a workplace in Büyükçekmece, indicating a broader context of criminal activity in Istanbul. Authorities are under pressure to ensure public safety and deter such high-profile crimes.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the police continue their work to bring the perpetrators to justice.
