Istanbul, March 5 – Fifty handguns were seized and one suspect was detained in an operation carried out in Istanbul as part of efforts to prevent illegal arms trade.
Police Operation Targets Illegal Arms Trade
The Istanbul Police Department’s Organized Crime Control Branch Directorate continues its efforts to prevent illegal arms trade and apprehend suspects involved in such activities. In coordination with the Intelligence Branch Directorate, teams identified illegal arms trade being conducted in the Gaziosmanpaşa district.
Suspect Apprehended with 50 Handguns
Police launched an operation to apprehend the suspect as he was about to enter his vehicle. During searches conducted at the suspect’s home and in his vehicle, a total of 50 handguns and their magazines were discovered and seized. The suspect was subsequently taken to the police department for further processing.
This operation highlights the ongoing commitment of the Istanbul Police Department to combat illegal arms trafficking and maintain public safety in the city.
