AK Party Istanbul Provincial Directorate Organizes “Being One in Istanbul” Program, Discusses Future Goals and Survey Results

Istanbul, February 10 – The AK Party Istanbul Provincial Directorate hosted a program themed “Being One in Istanbul” at the Bahçelievler Congress Center. The event served as a platform to review activities undertaken since the last congress and to outline future objectives. Attendees included AK Party Founding Provincial Chairman Alaattin Büyükkaya, members of parliament, mayors, district chairpersons, and party organization members.

AK Party’s Vision for Istanbul and Turkey

In his address, AK Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir emphasized that the motto for Istanbul’s organizations is “Being one in Istanbul.” Özdemir stated, “Under the leadership of our Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will be one, we will be strong, we will be alive. We will be Istanbul together, we will be Turkey together.” He highlighted that the world is experiencing extraordinary times, and under President Erdoğan’s leadership, Turkey is exporting peace and tranquility to all conflict zones globally.

Focus on Fieldwork and Municipal Services

Özdemir acknowledged the significant responsibility of the Istanbul organizations, stating that their collaborative efforts with the general headquarters, ministers, members of parliament, mayors, and all organizations in the field are beginning to yield results. He asserted that Istanbul continues to regress in terms of municipality and urban services, claiming, “The CHP administration, like a plague, like an epidemic, like a gang, has literally sucked the marrow out of our city. It has polluted Istanbul with works unworthy of Istanbul.” In contrast, he stated that the AK Party, through its district municipalities and the government, has continuously worked for Istanbul. “We have made and continue to make all kinds of investments in every field for Istanbul with a great sense of duty, especially in metros, transportation investments, urban transformation investments, environmental investments, health investments, and education investments,” Özdemir added. He emphasized that the reasons for issues such as traffic, IETT bus fires, metrobus and public transportation problems, and delays in urban transformation have become evident with recent lawsuits.

Campaign Against CHP Administration and Survey Results

Özdemir also mentioned that the campaign launched by the AK Party in advertising spaces in Istanbul caused significant discomfort for the CHP administration. He questioned, “What should we do, blindfold our eyes? Should we be deaf to Istanbul’s cries? Should we stop telling the truth? We will not be blind, we will not be deaf. We will never stop telling the truth. We will continue to tell the people of Istanbul, one by one, what they have done to Istanbul. In every condition, everywhere, always. This is Istanbul’s right over us. We will take Istanbul’s right, Istanbul’s opportunities, from those who plunder them.”

Özdemir shared the results of public opinion surveys conducted by the party. He noted, “When we took office, the AK Party’s vote share alone was 32.6 percent. Our Cumhur Alliance partners are not included here. Currently, we have risen to 36.2 percent. We believe that when economic improvement shows itself in 2026, our unrivaled AK Party will widen the gap.” Regarding the IBB (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality) survey, he stated, “In our IBB survey, which we conducted one year after the elections, we were at 35.5 percent, and currently, the AK Party alone has risen to 41.7 percent. In the 2024 local elections, the average vote share of our district municipalities was 46.1 percent, which increased to 44.6 percent last year. In our new survey, we see that it has reached 51.8 percent. Hopefully, we will carry this figure much higher.”

Following Özdemir’s presentation, party members and executives took a group photo.
