The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has released its weekly weather forecast report for Istanbul, advising residents to prepare for significantly colder temperatures.
Temperatures to Recede to Winter Levels
AKOM’s report indicates that while no precipitation is expected throughout the week, the city will experience sunny skies, occasionally partly cloudy. However, a notable drop in temperatures is anticipated, particularly during the night and early morning.
“Temperatures, which currently hover between 12-15 degrees Celsius during the day, are expected to recede to winter values of around 5 degrees Celsius and below, especially during night and early morning hours,” the report stated, emphasizing that the cold will persist.
Weekly Weather Forecast from AKOM:
- March 13, Friday: Partly cloudy and clear
- March 14, Saturday: Partly cloudy with scattered clouds
- March 15, Sunday: Partly cloudy
- March 16, Monday: Morning fog and haze, partly cloudy and very cloudy
- March 17, Tuesday: Partly cloudy and clear
- March 18, Wednesday: Partly cloudy
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the cold, especially those who will be outdoors during the colder periods. The change in weather comes after a period where Istanbul experienced milder conditions.
AKOM continues to monitor weather patterns closely and will issue further updates if conditions change significantly. This warning is part of the center’s ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and preparedness for adverse weather conditions.
