Istanbul, March 15 – The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has released its weekly weather forecast report, warning residents of impending rain and a significant drop in temperatures. While the city is expected to remain rain-free until Wednesday, precipitation is forecast for Thursday and Friday.
Rain Alert for Thursday and Friday
According to AKOM’s report, Istanbul will experience sunny, partly cloudy skies until Wednesday. However, the weather pattern is set to change mid-week, with rain expected to begin on Thursday, March 19, and continue through Friday, March 20.
“No rain is expected in Istanbul until Wednesday, and a sunny, at times partly cloudy sky is anticipated,” stated AKOM’s announcement. “However, a rain warning has been issued for Thursday and Friday.”
Temperatures to Plummet to Winter Levels
In addition to the rain, AKOM has warned of a notable decrease in temperatures. Daytime temperatures, currently ranging between 10-14 degrees Celsius, are expected to fall to around 6 degrees Celsius and below during the night and early morning hours. This drop will bring temperatures down to typical winter values, signaling a need for residents to prepare for colder conditions.
“Daytime temperatures, currently hovering between 10-14 degrees, are predicted to drop to around 6 degrees Celsius and below, especially during the night and early morning, reaching winter values and continuing to feel cold,” the statement added.
