Ankara, March 23 – The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) announced today that it is nearing completion of the street rehabilitation and urban design works on Anafartalar Street in the Ulus district. The project spans approximately 28,000 square meters and aims to enhance the quality of public spaces along the street.
Preserving Historical Identity and Enhancing Public Spaces
The works included extensive renovations of 121 structures, 25 of which are registered historical buildings, with a focus on preserving their historical texture. Shops and public areas have been completely redesigned to create a more organized, accessible, and safe urban environment.
ABB President Mansur Yavaş shared on his social media account, “On Anafartalar Street, we have renovated 121 buildings, including 25 registered ones, preserving their historical texture, and completely redesigned shops and public areas. We continue to work for a more organized, accessible, and safe city while preserving the memory of Ulus.”
Restoration in Accordance with Conservation Principles
Hüner Yonga, Application Chief of the ABB Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, stated that the project aims to revive the historical identity of the street while preserving it. During the implementation phase, restoration works on registered buildings were carried out in accordance with conservation principles.
