Ankara Achieves Record Export Figures in 2025, Reaching $17.4 Billion
Ankara, January 8 – Exports from Ankara in 2025 reached an unprecedented level, increasing by 24.1% compared to the previous year, to a total of $17 billion 485 million 656 thousand. This marks the highest export figure in Ankara’s history.
National Export Growth and Ankara’s Contribution
According to data from the Ministry of Trade, Turkey’s overall exports in 2025 increased by 4.5% compared to 2024, reaching $273.4 billion. Ankara’s significant contribution to this national growth highlights its growing economic importance. In 2024, the capital city’s exports stood at $14 billion 89 million 324 thousand.
Key Export Destinations
An analysis of Ankara’s exports by country reveals that the United Kingdom was the top destination last year, with exports totaling $1 billion 390 million 730 thousand. The UK was followed by the United States with $1 billion 112 million 120 thousand, Germany with $1 billion 112 million 99 thousand, China with $1 billion 71 million 569 thousand, and Slovakia with $983 million 922 thousand.
Automotive Industry Leads the Way
The automotive industry emerged as the leading sector in Ankara’s exports last year, contributing $1 billion 866 million 12 thousand. This sector was followed by chemical products with $1 billion 692 million 385 thousand, machinery and components with $1 billion 662 million 665 thousand, electrical and electronics with $1 billion 515 million 982 thousand, and mining products with $1 billion 305 million 857 thousand.
Sectors with the Highest Proportional Growth
In terms of proportional growth, the “ship and yacht services” sector experienced the most significant increase, soaring by 1045.2% due to a low base effect. This was followed by mining products with 37.2%, cement, glass, ceramics, and soil products with 36.4%, and ornamental plants and products with 34%.
The robust performance across various sectors and the diversification of export markets underscore Ankara’s strong economic trajectory and its pivotal role in Turkey’s overall export strategy.
