The Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) has announced the release of its 2026 calendar, titled “Texture of Ankara.” This special calendar aims to promote Ankara by illustrating its thousands of years of history and cultural textures through the art of miniature.

Ankara’s History Through Miniature Art

The calendar delves into Ankara’s rich past, featuring traces of various civilizations that have shaped the city, including the Phrygian, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Ottoman, and Republican eras. Motifs and symbols left by these civilizations on stone and wood have been reinterpreted with a modern touch, bringing them to life in the calendar’s designs.

Atatürk and Historical Structures Depicted

The calendar designs also include special collage works that use miniature art to portray the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, alongside Ankara’s significant historical and cultural structures.

Digital Ankara Experience with QR Codes

To further contribute to the promotion of Ankara, the ATO has launched a dedicated website, accessible via QR codes embedded in the calendar pages. Scanning these codes allows users to reach the website, where they can explore detailed explanations of Ankara’s history through narratives and images corresponding to each month’s visual theme.

ATO President Baran: Ankara to Gain International Prominence

Gürsel Baran, President of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, stated that Ankara is poised to gain international prominence in 2026, as it is scheduled to become the capital of the Turkic world and host a NATO meeting. Baran emphasized that the calendar serves to introduce Ankara’s history to a broader audience.

“With our 2026 calendar, we are not only promoting Ankara but also ensuring that the historical imprints of our city remain permanent. Economic and cultural development cannot be considered separately. Therefore, we aimed to contribute to the development of art by adapting the miniature art, inherited from the Ottoman period to the present day,” Baran explained.

Additional Information

The project highlights the deep connection between economic and cultural development, aiming to preserve and promote Ankara’s heritage through artistic expression. The initiative is a testament to ATO’s commitment to showcasing the city’s unique identity on both national and international platforms.

The calendar is expected to be a valuable tool for residents and visitors alike, offering a visually engaging and informative journey through Ankara’s historical tapestry.
