Ankara, March 29 – The Ankara City Council (AKK) convened its Advisory Decisions General Assembly, where President Halil İbrahim Yılmaz highlighted that the resolutions adopted are more than mere suggestions; they represent a powerful declaration of intent for Ankara’s future. “Today, we are not just making a series of decisions. We are collectively striving to determine Ankara’s direction,” Yılmaz stated.
A Platform for Collective Thought and Future Direction
Speaking at the General Assembly held at the Ankara City Council, Yılmaz announced that representatives from various working groups would present their advisory decisions to the General Assembly. Following a vote, these decisions would then be forwarded to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
Yılmaz underscored the council’s role as a platform where the public’s voice is amplified. “This is not a place for those who claim ‘I know best,’ nor for those who assert ‘no one knows better than me.’ This is a place for those who advocate ‘let’s think together.’ Today, we are honored to gather with our esteemed stakeholders who, without marginalizing anyone or pursuing personal gain, prioritize their city and its future, feeling a profound sense of belonging and love for Ankara,” he articulated.
Over 300 Decisions from Extensive Work
Yılmaz recalled that approximately 1.5 years had passed since the council’s 5th General Assembly, held on July 7, 2024. During this period, more than 300 advisory decisions, resulting from the work of 13 assemblies, 46 working groups, and 65 sub-working groups, are now being presented for the General Assembly’s approval.
Detailing the council’s ongoing efforts, Yılmaz elaborated, “If there is substance, there is direction, vision, future, horizon, dream, and hope. Today, we are collectively building that substance which will shape Ankara’s future. This significant substance, born from heartfelt intentions and shaped by common sense and determination, has become part of a powerful narrative. In this substance, we have conveyed not only what we have done but also the kind of story we wish to write for Ankara.”
A Legacy for Ankara’s Tomorrow
He further emphasized the impact of these collective decisions: “These advisory decisions, shaped by common sense, will be presented to the Metropolitan Municipality Council for Ankara’s future. These decisions are not merely suggestions; they are a strong declaration of will left for Ankara’s future. Today, we are not just making a series of decisions. We are collectively striving to determine Ankara’s direction. I am proud to state that these ideas and decisions, produced through common sense, whether implemented or not, will go down in history as a legitimate signature on the capital’s future.”
Following the speeches, the advisory decisions were put to a vote for the members’ approval.
