Ankara, January 5 – The Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has responded to recent media reports concerning inspections of imported animals and disease-free farms, announcing the launch of administrative sanctions and investigations. The Directorate stated that “administrative sanctions and investigation processes have been initiated by our Provincial Directorate against the personnel and businesses found to be responsible for the detected irregularities.”
Investigation into Alleged Misrepresentations
In a written statement, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry addressed the public discourse surrounding the joint inspections conducted with the Ministry. “In recent days, some press and virtual media channels have been publishing misleading and distorted information that does not reflect the truth regarding the inspections of imported animals and disease-free farms carried out jointly by our Ministry and our Provincial Directorate. For this reason, the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry deems it necessary to share the following points with the public.”
The statement detailed an inspection conducted on December 31, 2025, in the Sincan district of Ankara. Personnel from the District Directorate and the Ministry carried out an on-site examination of a particular enterprise to verify its disease-free status and animal stock.
Key Findings of the Inspection
During the inspection, several critical irregularities were identified:
- Presence of unanalyzed animals on the farm, which is contrary to disease-free certification requirements.
- Discrepancies between official records and the actual situation on the ground.
- Identification of certain animals that could pose risks to animal and public health.
- Imported animals were not physically present within the farm’s boundaries, violating both disease-free and import regulations.
These findings were cross-referenced with official records, confirming the presence of significant irregularities at the enterprise.
Further Inspections and Ongoing Investigations
Following the discoveries made on December 31, 2025, a subsequent inspection was deemed necessary for another enterprise linked to the same firm. This second inspection was conducted by the Directorate on January 2, 2026. This follow-up also confirmed that unanalyzed animals, which are not permitted under disease-free conditions, were physically present on the premises. This fact was officially recorded.
The Directorate emphasized that administrative sanctions and investigation processes have been initiated against all personnel and businesses found to be responsible for the irregularities detected during these inspections.
The Ankara Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry reaffirms its commitment to ensuring compliance with animal and public health regulations and maintaining the integrity of agricultural practices within the province.
