  • January 7: The Ankara 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance will begin the trial of 123 defendants in the third wave of an operation targeting the alleged issuance of forged documents using the e-signatures of public institution managers.
  • January 8: The Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court will continue the trial of Mustafa Ensar Aykal and Serdar Öktem, whose cases were separated from the main trial concerning the assassination of former Grey Wolves President and Hacettepe University lecturer Assoc. Dr. Sinan Ateş. The main case involves 22 defendants.
  • Ongoing: The Ankara 35th Criminal Court of First Instance will continue the trial of 12 defendants accused of disseminating fake social media posts related to former Homeland Party Chairman Muharrem İnce and Presidential Advisor Maksut Serim, as well as fabricated sexually explicit images targeting İnce.
  • January 13: Former Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from duty due to a corruption investigation, will appear before the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance along with 11 other defendants. The case concerns alleged irregularities during the CHP’s 38th Ordinary Congress.
  • January 15: The Ankara 12th High Criminal Court will commence the trial of five defendants accused in the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Hakan Çakır during a fight in Keçiören.
  • January 16: Five parliamentary cafeteria employees will stand trial at the Ankara 57th Criminal Court of First Instance in connection with an alleged harassment incident within the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
  • January 20: The Ankara 17th High Criminal Court will continue the trial of four police officers accused of providing information and documents to Cevheri Güven, a fugitive involved in the media structure of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).
  • January 20: The Ankara 4th High Criminal Court will hear the case against former judge Yaşar Akyıldız, who is being tried for “membership in an armed terrorist organization” due to his alleged involvement in FETÖ’s judicial structure.
  • January 30: The trial of Berat Çingay, who stabbed Judges and Prosecutors Council (HSK) Inspector Mehmet Aslan, will continue.
  • Ongoing: The Ankara 34th High Criminal Court will continue to hear the case against Ümitcan Uygun, accused of “inciting suicide, strengthening the decision to commit suicide” and “torture” in connection with the death of Sema Esen, known to the public as “Aleyna Çakır.”
  • January 30: The Ankara 28th High Criminal Court will continue the trial of 10 defendants in the assassination of Ankara University lecturer Assoc. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu, who was killed outside his home in Ankara on December 18, 2002.
  • February 13: The Ankara 37th High Criminal Court will resume the trial of 13 individuals on charges of “causing death and injury by negligence” in connection with a fire in a 26-story building in Ankara that resulted in the deaths of three people, including an infant.
  • February 23: The Ankara 72nd Criminal Court of First Instance will continue the trial of Gökhan Gülyurt, the driver of a bus carrying CHP deputies and general vice-chairmen, for “resisting to prevent the performance of duty” on multiple counts, after he allegedly failed to comply with police warnings to stop.
  • February 27: The Ankara 9th High Criminal Court will continue the trial of six defendants, including Mihraç Ural, the leader of the Turkish People’s Liberation Party-Front (THKP-C)/Acilciler organization, in connection with the May 11, 2013, bombing attacks in Reyhanlı, Hatay, which claimed the lives of 53 people.
