Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş met with citizens at an iftar program held in the Pursaklar district of Ankara. The event, which also included relatives of martyrs and veterans, saw Mayor Yavaş deliver a speech highlighting the importance of unity and solidarity, and wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan.

Mayor Yavaş Emphasizes Unity and Support for Needy

According to a statement from ABB, Mayor Yavaş recalled various campaigns organized for those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic and previous Ramadans. He expressed his gratitude to the relatives of martyrs and veterans, stating, “Today, we have the families of our martyrs, our veterans, and their families here. We are in such important days. Our children were martyred for the sake of our homeland, to prevent the division of this country, and to prevent attacks from outside. They gave their lives. We can never repay our debt to our martyrs, no matter what we do. At the very least, we must fulfill all the demands of their families and make them proud to be a martyr’s and veteran’s family.”

Sacrifices of Martyrs and Veterans Paved the Way for Today

Mayor Yavaş stressed that Turkey has reached its current state thanks to the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans. He added, “It is good that we have our homeland, our flag. The call to prayer does not cease from our mosques. We owe gratitude to everyone who has contributed and sacrificed their lives to make these lands our home, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, from the War of Independence until today. May Allah be pleased with all of them. There are those who carelessly use phrases like ‘Turkey is next.’ This nation has always rallied in the face of threats throughout history, and today it has the same determination.”

Iftar Program Fosters Community Spirit

The iftar program served as a platform for community gathering, allowing Mayor Yavaş to connect directly with the residents of Pursaklar. Such events during Ramadan are crucial for strengthening social bonds and fostering a sense of togetherness among citizens.
