Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş attended an iftar program in Pursaklar district of Ankara, where he met with citizens, including the relatives of martyrs and veterans. During his address, Mayor Yavaş emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity, extending his best wishes for the holy month of Ramadan.
Mayor Yavaş Highlights Support for Those in Need
In his speech, Mayor Yavaş recalled the various campaigns organized to support those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic and previous Ramadan periods. He expressed his gratitude to the families of martyrs and veterans, stating, “Today, the families of our martyrs, our veterans, and their families are here. We are in such important days. Our children were martyred for the sake of our homeland, to prevent this country from being divided, and to prevent attacks from outside. They gave their lives. No matter what we do for our martyrs, we cannot repay our debt. At the very least, by fulfilling all the demands of their families, we must make them proud to be the family of a martyr and a veteran.”
Sacrifices of Martyrs and Veterans Paved the Way for Today’s Turkey
Yavaş stressed that Turkey has reached its current state thanks to the sacrifices of its martyrs and veterans. He further added, “It is good that we have our homeland and our flag. The call to prayer does not cease from our mosques. We owe gratitude to everyone who labored and sacrificed for this land, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, from the War of Independence until today. May Allah be pleased with all of them. There are those who carelessly say, ‘Turkey is next.’ This nation has shown the same determination throughout history in the face of threats, and it possesses the same determination today.”
Iftar Program Fosters Community Spirit
The iftar program in Pursaklar served as a gathering point for the community, bringing together diverse groups of citizens to share a meal and reinforce bonds of solidarity. Such events during Ramadan are crucial for fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support within the community.
Importance of Ramadan Gatherings
Ramadan iftar programs, like the one attended by Mayor Yavaş, play a significant role in promoting social cohesion and providing a platform for leaders to connect directly with the citizens they serve. These gatherings offer an opportunity to reflect on shared values and strengthen community ties.
