Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has launched a new ‘Panoramic Ankara Tour’ program, offering residents and visitors a unique opportunity to explore the historical, cultural, and natural beauty of the capital city. The initiative, introduced as part of Tourism Week (April 15-22), has garnered substantial interest from the public, according to Habertürk.

A Comprehensive Journey Through Ankara’s Rich Heritage

The tour aims to promote Ankara’s deep-rooted history, rich cultural heritage, and significant tourist attractions. Participants can discover the city’s iconic landmarks from the comfort of a vehicle, accompanied by a professional guide providing panoramic views and detailed explanations.

Ömer Faruk Sarı, Head of the Tourism Branch of ABB’s Department of Urban History, Promotion, and Tourism, stated, “We have previously organized tours to districts and UNESCO walking routes. Now, we have launched the Panoramic Ankara Tour. We have prepared a wonderful program starting from the Parliament building in the Ulus area, allowing citizens to see the Train Station, Anıtkabir, Atakule, Hamamönü, and Ankara Castle.”

Key Highlights of the Tour Route

The tour begins at the Second Grand National Assembly of Turkey building, proceeding past Ankara Palas and Gençlik Park to the Ankara Train Station and the Turkish Aeronautical Association Museum. The route then continues along Atatürk Boulevard, offering glimpses of Anıtkabir’s silhouette, government ministries, the Grand National Assembly, and various embassies.

Further along, the tour covers Cinnah Street, Botanik Park, and Atakule. It then provides panoramic views of cultural and artistic sites in Kızılay and Sıhhiye before connecting to the foothills of Ankara Castle via Hamamönü and Ulucanlar. Historical sites such as Hacı Bayram Mosque, the Ancient Roman Theater, and the historic Ulus bazaars are also visible from inside the vehicle during the tour. The program concludes back at the starting point, the Second Grand National Assembly building.

Tour Schedule and Registration

The Panoramic Ankara Tour is conducted twice a day, every Wednesday, at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, departing from the Second Parliament Building in Ulus. The tours are designed to be continuous, with narration from a guide, and participants do not disembark from the vehicle during the journey.

Applications for the program can be made exclusively on Wednesdays mornings through the official website: https://kentgezileri.ankara.bel.tr/.

Sarı emphasized the accessibility of the program, stating, “Every Wednesday, our citizens can apply for the programs. The Panoramic Ankara Tour is currently available twice a day, in the morning and afternoon, every Wednesday.”

This initiative by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality underscores the city’s commitment to promoting its rich heritage and making its historical and cultural treasures more accessible to a wider audience.
